Merry Christmas

I felt inspired to say Merry Christmas...So, Merry Christmas!

Thank You God, for humbling yourself and coming to Earth as a man. You lived a perfect life and, for no selfish reason at all, paid for our sin through death, so that we may have the opportunity to have eternal life in your kingdom.

Thank you for your many blessings.

Is the legislation pointed in the right direction?

http://www.mlive.com/newsflash/index.ssf?/base/politics-10/119817687368220.xml&storylist=washington

Kudos to president Bush for offering tax relief to people in foreclosure or facing bankruptcy. Shame on the people in that situation for making irresponsible decisions, however, it frustrates me to know that the lenders out there are able to get away with this.

The industry that I work in is highly regulated, and it should be because I deal with individuals hard earned savings. It is my duty to make responsible yet productive decisions in the accounts of my clients, and I do my best to do so. I take the consideration of risk, cost, and potential reward into every client situation, and every client is unique in their desires and tolerances in all of those areas. Even with the strict regulation that is in our industry, there are people out there who are irresponsible and make selfish decisions in peoples accounts. They are not client focused, and the long term well being of their client takes a backseat to the short term boost of their checking account.

The same has been made true in the mortgage industry. There are responsible lenders out there who are very customer focused, but there are also people willing to do whatever it takes to close a deal. For instance, take this paragraph...

"An estimated 2 million to 2.5 million adjustable-rate mortgages — worth some $600 billion — will jump from low initial "teaser" rates to higher rates this year and next. Steep prepayment penalties have made it difficult for some to get out of their mortgages, and some overstretched homeowners can't afford to refinance or sell their homes."

I mean, good grief, they call them TEASER! rates for crying out loud. They lock you into the higher rates and they TRAP you with prepayment penalties which means you can't refinance. Again, shame on the borrower for doing an ARM in a low interest rate market, but is it not the lenders job to explain to the borrower that "we are in a very low interest rate market" and "you should lock in this rate because I don't think we'll be down here forever."

The government should crack down on these people who are leading ignorant borrowers down a path of destruction. These borrowers don't know any better and for the most part, they are relying on the recommendation from the lender. That trust has definitely been jeopardized.

Yet another example

As our country moves farther and farther away from Christ, and farther and farther away from morals and values, these things happen.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,315342,00.html

It really frustrates me because we watch these things happen, and they are always going to happen, but what seems to be the general message in the mainstream is that we want "social freedoms" and we want to make our own decisions. I'm sorry, but The Human Race, and Americans in general, are not able to do it. I have no idea who did this, and what his/her story is. In fact, I haven't even read the article yet, I just saw the headline.

We don't emphasize family
We don't emphasize God
We don't emphasize Value's
We publicize sex
We publicize violence
We publisize drug abuse

What do you expect? Praise God that we still have a country because the direction that we our moving and with the things we have done, it amazes me that His wrath hasn't punished America in a more fierce way.

Talking Iraq.

I would like to comment on some quotes from Sen. Murtha, one of the leading Democrat opposers to the war.

First, the Kudo's - No. 2 House Republican Roy Blunt challenged Democrats on Friday to pass a $50 billion war spending package, pouncing on new remarks by Democratic Rep. John Murtha who said, "I think the surge is working."

On this one, applause to Murtha for moving toward honesty and non-biased evaluation. Everyone is saying that the surge is working, but the politcal answer is more often skewed toward party politics and leverage for your cause. Also, shame on Roy Blunt for exploiting a positive comment by Murtha. That will only cause him to think twice next time and if he knows his words will be headlined by his counterparts, he won't give any ground. That's not moving toward cooperation.

Now to the rest - "I think the surge is working, but that's only one element," said Murtha, who chairs the defense appropriations subcommittee. "And the surge is working for a couple of different reasons. And one reason is the increase in troops."

OK, that makes sense.

Murtha, speaking to reporters Thursday in his hometown of Johnstown, Pa., mixed in renewed criticism of the Bush administration's management of the Iraq war, saying it was waged with too few troops, and that it is too costly.

OK, which one is it? You can't have more troops and spend less money! They aren't going to just show up there for free!!! You want this president to bring more troops and spend less money, and at the same time restrict what he can spend? It gets better....

THE VERY NEXT LINE - "We can no longer afford to spend $14 billion a month on this war and let our readiness slip," Murtha said. But, "If you put more forces in, things will work out," he said.

Can I just say something? "What the Frick?" We can't spend any more money, but if we put more troops in, things will work out. There's no way to win. He's basically saying, if we bring in more troops, we will win, but I won't approve any more money, so let's just lose...It gets better...

The House of Representatives has passed a $50 billion funding bill that provides the president, our troops, and our nation with a responsible plan for bringing our troops home," Murtha's statement read. "The President should heed the advice of the American people and allow this funding bill to become law. "

The American people have been educated by The Dixie Chix, John Melloncamp, and Tom Cruise...They aren't exactly "up" on the status of the war or really even what is at stake. Let's let our public officals duke this one out. I wouldn't let the American people decide what I'm eating for breakfast, let alone the direction of a crucial war.

Sparking the economy in MI

What a wonderful way to attract new consumers to Michigan to take advantage of one of our most abundant resources...SNOW!!! Now we are thinking. When times are tough, let's charge more! Obviously, then we can make more money! Not so much...

How about finding a way to make it more attractive to travelers to come to Michigan? How about incentives for companies that reach certain levels? NOPE, instead we are going to charge tax on a family going out on a skiing trip, or even better, the ticket tax...Let's charge a family even MORE to go to a professional baseball game! Now they have to choose between going to Disney World, or going to a Tigers game. Even better yet, let's use the money we receive on those skiing trips, to build a fence to protect the turtles from getting hit by cars. That will get our economy "a-blazin!" How do these people have jobs? Oh yeah, our votes...We can only blame ourselves.

It's unfortunate, but it's this uncreative thinking that is causing Michigan to slip down the slippery slope (Pun intended) into poverty. Get ready folks, if Steam Engine Hillary makes it to the Oval Office, we can look forward to these same wonderful ideas!!!

Hillary = Granholm x 50

Here we go again

I've hit on this before, and I do not believe that what this man did is right, however, how can he be charged with murder in this case? If killing a baby is murder, does it make a difference who makes the call? It's murder if the dad wants the baby dead, but it's not murder if the mom wants it dead? We are giving women in America the right to play God and decide who has the right to live and who is sentenced to death. If you are calling this murder, it is murder in ALL instances. This man is charged for murder for killing that baby, but if the woman would have wanted an abortion it wouldn't have been murder? I really don't get how people can think this ok?

Hey, I HAVE AN IDEA!!!

Let's pull out of Iraq so this can happen more often!!! Really, it's a good idea because it may win us the 2008 election! Who cares about the people over there. Who cares about the little kids watching their parents heads getting cut off, I want to win the election.

Or maybe we should use this story for political gain like the democrats would. They use the gloom and doom of Iraq so that they can take the White House and run the USA into the ground by conforming our culture into even more of a socially liberal breeding ground of abortion, homosexuality, Godless schools and Godless government. If we want to be like them, we'd use this article to prove a point. I'm not afraid to do it, but I'll bet CNN is.

I will continue to post these

Every time I find one.

Why waste airwaves on all the negative nonsense that is out there for the sole purpose of political persuasion. I'm sick of it...When the truth is, the strong majority of our military have the attitude of this soldier, we continue to be infiltrated with propaganda that is intended to sway your thinking for 2008.

How far will this story go?

Probably not much farther.

Ahem....WHAT?

Hold on...what experience? What has she ever been in charge of?

If you ask me, she's full of...well you know. Welcome to the Jennifer Granholm experience (or experiment) times 50.

FFL

For those that don't know what FFL means, it is Fantasy Football League, and it is THAT TIME OF YEAR!!! I am pumped...Here you go!

Say What?

OK, I am, for the most part, going to let this one speak for itself. However, I do have one thing to say, and that is, "It is time to start FIGHTING!!!"

This couple in Texas wants the state government to ban the "moment" of silence because it could lead toward prayer.

"Lord, I am sorry for where our country is headed and some of the things that people do to create distance. Please know that we do not all feel this way, and let Your presence be felt on every acre of our land. "

Mr. Vick

Dear Michael Vick,

If you're found guilty I hope you are hit with the most ridiculous sentence in the history of man. Any man that water down a "loser" dog and electrocute it to death, or slam a puppy on the ground until it dies, or hang a dog deserves to be in the FPMITA prison...The Office Space lovers out there will be able to figure that one out...You know it's bad when the fact that you actually shot these dogs sounds humane. What's next? When your kicks are had and this gets dull, then what? The next logical step up is a human being, I would suppose, and based on your character, I wouldn't put murder past you, if you have the ability to torture a defenseless living creature, who knows what you would do.

If the NFL doesn't take a drastic measure NOW, my vision of this league will truly be tainted and I will have a hard time seeing it the same way. If any of you know me, you know that is a major statement because I am a BIG sports fan and the NFL is at the top of my list. If Vick is still in the league this year, you can sign me up for the protest.

Some pic's of us and Baylee.

And our governor wants to do what?

A few months ago I had a discussion with a friend of mine after reading an article about a guy who was released from prison for murder, and then committed the same crime again. I don't have a link for it, but it happened in Grand Rapids...Well DUH!!! I am all about forgiveness, but I am also all about paying a penalty. Thank goodness Jesus paid the penalty for our sins to allow us to get to heaven, but he did pay the penalty so a murderer can stay out of jail! Jail time, is the penalty that people have to pay for these crimes, and I believe they need to serve the full time, or at least close to it. Obviously, there are situations when a judge can make a logical decision and let someone out, but those cases should be rare.

Sooooo....Tonight, as I am watching the Tigers get win number 56 (I think), I stumble on this article.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,289791,00.html

Why was this guy not in jail? Good behavior? Come on. The guy is a stinking lunatic, and a 5 year old girl had to pay the price for someone's bad judgement and this guys lunacy.

So, after all of that, I bring this up:

http://www.mlive.com/jackson/stories/index.ssf?/base/news-21/1183644315315100.xml&coll=3

So this is how we are going to solve our financial crisis? Release more problems onto the streets? Wow...Genius idea. How many crimes will it take from these parolee's to rack up legal bills equal to 100 inmates. I'm guessing any time of major crime will require a lot of legal work. Not to mention that we will be less safe.

Well, it makes me feel comfortable that because of a plan from our Governor, there will be 3000 more convicted criminals released early from prison, not because of good behavior, but because we can't afford them. Right. This should be one of the last things we do to save money. Our safety is not worth sacrificing. Then again, these are the same people that don't want us to fight in the middle east and take out the people that would LOVE to saw our heads off. I know that's blunt, but it's the facts. I won't post the links to those video's.

I love Grand Rapids

If this story doesn't make you love Grand Rapids, I don't know what will. Forget the snow, and the road construction, this makes up for all of it. This is the way to make national news.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,286847,00.html

Maybe not the time but...

Sometime's it's hard to tackle a political (moral) issue, when a tragedy happens. I caught myself criticizing a radio host today for crucifying Bush and supporting Saddam Hussein for political reason. However, I have had an interesting dilemma here and I hope you understand my point. Recently there have been multiple cases of men killing and murdering a female companion (not always a spouse) who is pregnant. They are being charged with 2 counts of murder. I find this very interesting that the life of an unborn child is defined as a life in this situation, but not in an abortion situation. To me, the way our laws are written, an unborn child is not a human, but the definition of murder is, "unlawful killing of one human by another, especially with premeditated malice." Can we step back and look at this. If Scott Peterson or Bobby Cutts ( http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,286698,00.html ) are going to be tried for murder, then according to this definition, they took another human life. This then defines an unborn child as a human life. Why is it ok then for a mother to choose to take the same life and it is not murder? Is it not a life anymore? Now it's just a possession of the mother, and she has the right to choose if it is a life? The mother gets to "play god" and decide whether the child gets to live, but she has no consequences because it's not murder if she kills it, but if someone else does, then it's murder. This just doesn't add up to me. It's either one or the other. For the record, I strongly believe that they are BOTH murder. Unfortunately, according to our precedence, Cutts and Peterson should only be charged with single counts of murder because the unborn children don't matter. Why is that so hard to swallow? Isn't it interesting how people want it both ways. They want it to be a life when it's convenient and they don't want it to be a life it's not convenient.

My views on Iraq

As I sat down to check out the newspaper today, I read stories about Iraq and the terrible casualties that are happening there. It seems as if we could write one story about horror, and then just reprint it on the back page every single day. Some of the low-lights of the story are as follows; “Mortar rounds crashed in the U.S. controlled Green Zone on Tuesday – the second such barrage in a 12-hour span – and gunman ambushed Shiite travelers as part of attacks that killed at least 44 people nationwide.” Another one says, “At least 11 Shiites were killed and three wounded after attackers flagged down their bus near Iskandariyah, 30 miles south of Baghdad. About 45 minutes later, gunmen opened fire on civilian cars about six miles to the north near Latifiyah, killing three people and wounding five.” Yet another says, “At least 23 tortured bodies also were found around Iraq – 15 in Baghdad.” The amount of Iraqi’s killed in March was 1,872, and in April 1,501.

After reading this article I try to relate these numbers to the life that we have here in the United States, and I try to make sense of the critics to our involvement in Iraq. Can you imagine the blood shed of the civilians in Iraq if we weren’t there? I am firmly convinced that Iraq would be run by these terrorists and they would have a full country at their disposal to use as a weapon. How can we become involved with a country and create a sense of hope with sensible, loving Muslims, and then leave them to be overthrown by cold-blooded killers. Are people in our country willing to have the blood of an entire civilization on their hands? Is it not imperative that we win this war and transform Iraq from a country filled with Barbarians to a country filled with entrepreneurs, religious leaders, educators, respected political figures and a governing force that is able to control the few barbarians that are left?

We cringe at the fact that 33 college students could be killed in a cowardly shooting rampage, the worst of its’ kind in the 231 year history of our country. Yet, attacks that kill 44 Iraqi’s is back page news and not enough evidence for certain leaders of our country to maintain our presence in Iraq and stay there with the determination to be victorious over a ruthless enemy? How can it be that we have such broken hearts over 33 of our own, but we are so care free about 23 tortured bodies being found in another country?

To me, it doesn’t add up. To me, it seems as if politics and personal gain have become so important within our country that the actual severity of this conflict has been put on the back burner. The point is no longer what is best for our country; it has become what is best for our “party.”

Does it scare anyone else that these same people who torture their own, would be and have been, celebrated for doing worse to us? Does anyone remember people dancing around in the streets cheering when 3000 of our own died in America? Do other people realize this? Do other people realize that we have soldiers giving their lives on foreign soil because they know they are eliminating an enemy that wants to kill their family on their home soil? Do they get the credit they deserve?

The answer is no. Instead of celebrating the fact that we have heroes fighting for us in a very volatile country, we are debating funding of those same troops because of a deadline for withdrawal.

Can you imagine if we pulled out of WWII because of a deadline to defeat Hitler? How about a deadline to defeat slavery? How many things in our history took a tremendous amount of time and only through persistence, were we able to prevail?

Because of this negativity and lack of support, our troops are viewed as victims of a careless leader who just wants to fight a war for the heck of it. It’s easy to sit back here and say that you want the troops to come home. That’s the popular decision. It’s difficult to see the numbers of American’s dying and making the “unpopular” decision of leaving them in harms way, but you have to, because you know that the future of this country depends on it. Can you imagine this whole conflict with a unified country that is 100% focused on willing this war? If we had 2 parties that had the same goal because of the consequences of failure, I know that our country would be behind our troops 100% and I also know that our troops would feel that support even though they were thousands of miles away.

Remember Me

A good friend sent me this video, and I, being a sucker for a well done video edit, absolutely loved it. I think it sent a great message and one that we all need to remember. No matter what the issue is and no matter if we agree with the mission of not, we have to support the people that are fighting our fight. I highly recommend this video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ervaMPt4Ha0

Abortion, what is the debate?

This whole abortion issue is becoming ridiculous. I think the overall theme that you will read on this blog is my desire for man to take responsibility for their actions. On many topics, personal responsibility is a simple solution. However, we live in a society with selfish, lazy people and it is hard for people to take responsibility for their actions. It is hard to come up with a "system" that is flawless because people will always abuse it for their own personal gain.

Never is that more true than with the abortion issue. A man and a woman make a choice to have sex before, during or outside of their marriage. They don't want to take the responsibility that was blessed to them because of their selfishness and lack of self control, so they decide to kill a baby. Yes, I said baby. Let me ask you this...Is having an abortion as easy as having your tonsils taken out? Or, let's say a sist, or a tooth? Is it emotionally the same? NO, the answer is no. Why? Let me answer that one for you too. Because EVERYONE, especially the mother carrying the child, knows that they have destroyed a life. Need proof? Here you go.

http://www.prolife.com/ABRTWM2.html

I think you would be hard pressed to find a woman that had an abortion and never once second guessed it. Even in the case of rape, I bet, a woman ALWAYS second guesses their choice at some point, and probably many points, of the lives.

I know people that have made this decision, but it won't cause me to change my opinion of this horrible act. There are probably people that I know reading this that have had an abortion or have been part of the process and I don't even know about it. I sympathize with the struggles that I am sure you have, and I pray that you have asked for God's forgiveness and his mercy on you and your emotional stress.

Anyone who tries to justify this as a reasonable act and a woman's choice is selfish and lazy. There are many people out there who would desperately choose to have a child but for some reason they can't. They crave a child and yet people out there are killing their own children. It just doesn't make sense to me.

As a Christian, my argument is, "God never game women the right to choose who lives and who dies." As an American, my argument is, "The Constitution never game women the right to choose who lives and who dies."

It is not a choice, it is a life.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog. If anyone happens to stumble upon this consider yourself lucky. I don't plan on inviting anyone until I have a blog full of somewhat worthwhile content. I plan on giving my opinion, for what it's worth (usually not much) on many topics, including religion, politics, sports and society in general.
